Chateau Latour owes its style to the very high clay content of the terroir In fact, it's a clay very similar to that found in Petrus vineyards. Combining it with gravel makes Latour enjoy a unique character. Compared to Lafite, where the proportion of gravel in the soil is much higher, the wine is noticeably richer, concentrated and deep, while Lafite will have more elegance and more subtle aromas.
Latour is 92 hectares under cultivation, the vast majority of which is based on the cabernet sauvignon varietal. The most important parcel, Enclos, is farmed biodynamically.
Les Forts is one of the most important second labels in all of Bordeaux. The elegant, powerful wine offers a slightly different perspective on the Latour-owned crop and complements the main wine beautifully. The 2012 vintage yielded a full-bodied and smooth wine, ready to open a bit faster than standard.
