Joseph Drouhin Recolte du Domaine Aloxe Corton Vintage 1964 The Joseph Drouhin winery is one of the largest estates in the region. It has vineyards throughout Burgundy: Chablis , Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, Côte Chalonnaise . It consists mostly of Premier and Grand Crus. The Domaine was created over the years through judicious purchases and agreements between families. Some of the vineyards are among the most famous in Burgundy. Aloxe is a charming village north of Beaune and lies below the impressive Corton hill, famous for its Grands Crus. The soil is chalky with a high iron oxide content, which gives it its characteristic reddish color and the wine its structure. The 1964 vintage is a well-structured wine with no hardness. A beautiful intense red color. Strong nose, with aromas of candied fruits, evolving with age towards spice and musk aromas. On the palate, a solid structure is perceptible. Long aftertaste with aromas reminiscent of the same candied fruits. Estimated price: £355 - £390
